Excalibur vs Luxor – Las Vegas Hotel Showdown (Ep. 2)

Excalibur vs Luxor

Welcome to Episode 2 of the Las Vegas Hotel Showdown—where iconic Strip resorts face off in a one-on-one tournament until only one remains. In this round, the bold and budget-friendly Excalibur returns to defend its spot… but can it hold its own against the towering pyramid of Luxor? Excalibur vs Luxor. Let’s get started.

In each battle, I compare two casino hotels based on the casino floor, dining options, entertainment, location, nearby attractions, and overall vibe—all from a guest’s point of view, using real walkthrough footage. The winner advances to the next round, leading to a final championship face-off that crowns the King of the Strip.

⚔️ The Contenders

Excalibur Hotel & Casino is a medieval-themed property on the southern end of the Strip. With castle towers, jousting decor, and a more affordable price point, Excalibur offers families and budget-conscious travelers a playful Vegas experience.

Luxor Hotel & Casino, right next door, is instantly recognizable by its giant pyramid and shining Sky Beam. The Egyptian theme runs throughout the property, and its location connects easily to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur via tram.

🎰 Casino Vibe

Excalibur’s casino is large and lively, with an open layout and lower-stakes tables that appeal to casual players. It can feel a bit chaotic at times, especially during family travel seasons.

Luxor’s casino has a darker, more mysterious ambiance thanks to its black-and-gold theming and pyramid design. It feels more grown-up overall, with slightly higher minimums but a more immersive vibe.

🍽️ Dining

Excalibur offers a variety of accessible dining options, including a food court, Camelot Steakhouse, and the crowd-pleasing Buffet at Excalibur. There’s something for almost every budget.

Luxor brings a slightly more elevated lineup, including Diablo’s Cantina, Tender Steakhouse, and a Starbucks tucked into the pyramid. It also benefits from being a short walk from Mandalay Bay’s restaurants.

🎭 Entertainment & Things Nearby

Excalibur is home to the long-running Tournament of Kings, a medieval-style dinner show that’s great for families.

Luxor hosts popular residencies like Carrot Top and Blue Man Group, making it a strong contender in the entertainment category. Plus, it’s closer to Allegiant Stadium and the Shark Reef Aquarium via the Mandalay tram.

📍 Location & Strip Access

Both hotels are on the southern end of the Strip, but Luxor’s connection to Mandalay Bay and proximity to attractions like the Shoppes at Mandalay Place gives it a slight edge. Still, Excalibur has better Strip views from the sidewalk level and quicker access to NY-NY and MGM Grand.

🏆 Final Verdict

It was a close one, but Luxor takes the win in this round. Its overall theme, entertainment lineup, and better connectivity give it the edge over Excalibur. The pyramid marches forward in the bracket—who will challenge it next?
