Las Vegas Buffet Battle Wynn vs MGM. Which is better? I compare food, value, and vibe to see which buffet wins. Full review, tips, and video walkthrough. Stick with me! Both offer massive dining experiences, but which one delivers the best value, vibe, and variety? I visited both to compare every detail—so if you’re planning your buffet adventure, stick with me.
The Wynn Buffet feels like a celebration from the moment you walk in. With its garden-themed décor, floral arrangements, and soaring ceilings, it’s got that luxurious, “only in Vegas” ambiance. Meanwhile, MGM Grand’s buffet feels more casual, less fancy—but still bustling with energy. It’s all about comfort over glamour.
Wynn shines here. The prime rib, crab legs, shrimp cocktail, and dessert station are outstanding. Every dish is plated with care—even their made-to-order street tacos come out hot and crisp. At MGM, you’ll still get solid choices—especially the roast meats and Asian selections—but it’s more hit-or-miss. Good? Yes. Gourmet? Not quite Wynn-level.
I walk you through both buffets, showing what’s on the line in this Las Vegas buffet battle. From crab claws to carving stations, here’s the full video:

Wynn goes over the top with beautifully presented desserts: macarons, pastries, gelato, and mini cheesecakes that look like they belong in a high-end bakery. MGM’s dessert section is large but more traditional—think cookies, cakes, and soft serve. Kids will love it, but it doesn’t have that “wow” factor.
You’ll pay more at Wynn—and you’ll feel it—but the presentation, service, and quality justify the splurge, especially for a special occasion. MGM’s pricing is more approachable, especially if you’re looking to eat well without breaking the bank. For families or casual diners, MGM offers great bang for the buck.
Wynn usually requires a bit of a wait—especially on weekends—but they’ve streamlined their line with prepaid options. Once seated, the service is impeccable. Plates are cleared instantly, drinks refreshed constantly. At MGM, service is friendly but slower, and lines can stretch without much guidance. Go early if you can.
MGM Grand is the more relaxed of the two—perfect if you’re rolling with a big group, kids in tow, or just hungry after a night on the Strip. Wynn is more refined. It’s where you go when you’re dressed up and ready to impress.
The Wynn Buffet truly feels like a special event. There’s a level of polish in the décor and attention to detail that makes even breakfast feel elegant. MGM is louder, busier, and more functional. It’s all about getting fed and getting back to your day.
Wynn wins on luxury, flavor, and presentation. MGM doesn’t win on anything.
My advice? If you’re celebrating or want that “wow” factor, choose Wynn. If you’re budget-conscious but still want to eat, MGM Grand is a ok bet…but a much better option is to walk across the street and go to the Excalibur Buffet. It’s a much better option.
